The modernization of the heating system in the multi-purpose building in Schwellbrunn, Appenzell, is a prime example of the successful implementation of an ecological, bivalent heating solution. The project involved the complete renewal of the existing heat generation system.

AREA OF APPLICATION

The new heating system supplies the multi-purpose building with hot water and cozy warmth. The adjacent school building is also connected via a long-distance pipe. This solution ensures a reliable and consistent heat supply for both buildings.

HEATING ROOM

Two air/water heat pumps were installed, which heat the water heater for hot water in summer and also take over the heating operation in the transitional period. In the cold winter months, a powerful UTSD wood chip heating system takes over the heat supply.

FUEL

Ambient air / wood chips

SPECIAL

In Schwellbrunn, not only have heating costs been optimized, but an important contribution to environmental protection has also been made. The combination of environmentally friendly heat pump technology and efficient wood chip heating guarantees a year-round heat supply.
